Wydad coach: We deserved to win over Raja

Rollani Mokwena, coach of Moroccan Wydad, confirmed that his team deserved to win over Raja in the derby match yesterday.

The match between Wydad and Raja yesterday ended in a 1-1 draw in the 11th round of the Moroccan League.

Mokoena said in television statements after the match: “I felt angry and frustrated after the opponent’s undeserved advance, but I felt happy after the reaction of the Wydad players.”

He added: “It was a contradictory feeling, after conceding a goal against the run of play where we were the better side in the match. It was really frustrating, and then I was happy with the players’ reaction and the strength of character they showed to equalize, in a perfect way, which made me grateful for this mental toughness.”

Mokoena continued: "We deserved the victory, given the match's numbers that say we dominated and the opponent did not pose the slightest threat to us except for the moment of the goal." The draw did us justice and left us in a good dynamic, even if I wanted to give the club’s supporters a victory.”
