Craig Hope hits out at Yaisle: Newcastle lacking identity

Craig Hope, senior football correspondent for the Daily Mail, believes Matthias Jaissle's future at Newcastle is not currently threatened by dismissal, but he warned that placing the blame for negative results on the players could turn into a significant risk that threatens the coach's relationship with the dressing room.

Hob's criticism came after Newcastle's defeat to Everton by a goal to nil on Monday evening, marking the team's fourth loss in their last five matches in the Premier League. He considered that Yaisleh's comments after the match, in which he criticized his players for not following his tactical instructions, raise greater concern than the performance the team delivered during the match.

The German coach explained that he asked his players to rely on short passes and to deliver the ball to the wings in individual attacking situations, but he was surprised by the excessive reliance on long balls, which allowed Everton's defenders to easily dominate aerial balls, while the wingers remained ineffective. Newcastle did not manage to threaten Jordan Pickford's goal until the 85th minute, without creating any real danger.

Hob criticized the lack of identity, attacking patterns, and partnerships within the team, pointing out that Yaisle's continued reliance on the 4-2-3-1 formation, despite the midfielders not having the necessary mobility, along with the frequent changes in the playmaker position, makes the team appear without clear solutions. He also warned that the coach's insistence on his tactical ideas without adapting them to the players' capabilities could increase problems rather than solve them.

The British journalist concluded by asserting that Newcastle's management does not see the time as right to make a change at the head of the coaching staff, and that what is currently needed is to address the issues from within the team, whether at the level of tactical approach, mentality, or execution, warning Yaïsle that losing matches is one thing, but losing the trust of the dressing room is another, more serious matter.
