Spanish FA postpones Copa del Rey matches due to train accident
The Spanish Football Federation has postponed all first-round matches of the Copa del Rey, originally scheduled for Wednesday evening, following the tragic train accident that occurred this morning in the province of Toledo.
The decision includes 24 matches, as the Spanish Football Federation clarified in an official statement that the postponement comes as an expression of Al-Tadamon with the victims of the incident, emphasizing that football cannot remain isolated from society in light of this tragedy.
The federation confirmed that it will announce the new dates for the postponed matches in the coming days, while working to reschedule them before the draw for the second round of the Copa del Rey. The matches scheduled for Thursday are initially set to take place at their original times.
The Spanish Football Federation is holding an emergency meeting to discuss alternative dates for affected matches, while also communicating with the relevant clubs to inform them of the decision, especially since some teams were preparing to travel for their matches on Wednesday.
