The Spanish Football Federation's disciplinary committee has suspended Facundo Bernal of Real Betis for 4 matches after he was sent off for assaulting Lamine Yamal during the match against FC Barcelona in LaLiga last Saturday.

According to the Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo", the incident occurred at the beginning of the second half when Lamine Yamal intervened to support his teammate Fermín after Real Betis' goalkeeper attempted to lift him in an inappropriate manner. Bernal got into a scuffle with the Barcelona player, during which he grabbed his neck and delivered two consecutive headbutts to the face, resulting in his dismissal in the 54th minute.

The disciplinary committee classified the incident as an assault under Article 103 of the disciplinary regulations, which stipulates a suspension of 4 to 12 matches in cases of assault that does not result in injury, taking into account the circumstances of the incident and the stoppage of play.

The suspension applies to matches in LaLiga and the Copa del Rey, meaning Facundo Bernal will miss games against Celta Vigo, Malaga, and Elche, as well as next week's cup match.

The Spanish newspaper reported that the player will not be able to return before the Seville derby, scheduled for the weekend of November 22, while Real Betis's chances of reducing the penalty seem limited, as it came at the minimum stipulated, as well as the chances of obtaining a temporary measure to suspend its implementation from the sports administrative court.
