Real Betis beat Feyenoord to deepen their wounds in UEFA Champions League
Real Betis secured a victory over Dutch side Feyenoord in their UEFA Champions League clash in Seville, thanks to a penalty scored by Isco in the second half.
The only goal of the match came after a penalty was awarded to the Spanish team, following a handball by Feyenoord defender Jeremiah St. Juste, as Moroccan Abde Ezzalzouli attempted to shoot the ball. Isco converted the penalty into a goal, giving the home side the lead.
Feyenoord tried to come back in the score during the final minutes, and their coach made attacking substitutions in search of an equalizer, but their efforts did not result in a change to the scoreline, allowing Real Betis to take all three points.
Feyenoord have suffered their second defeat in the UEFA Champions League, making their chances of qualification more difficult, while Real Betis have strengthened their hopes of continuing in the tournament.
