Liverpool's stance on paying the release clause for Valencia winger
Liverpool are not planning to sign David Otorbi, the Valencia winger, in January if his release clause rises to £50 million, according to Football Insider, as reported by TEAMtalk.
Liverpool were planning to activate the release clause in the player's contract, which is £25 million, but Spanish reports have indicated that Valencia raised it to €60 million, extending the player's contract until 2031, despite a disagreement over this information.
According to Pete O'Rourke, a reporter for Football Insider, Liverpool will not pay £50 million to sign the 19-year-old player, confirming that the club does not wish to spend that amount on a young talent in the middle of the season.
Oturbey has participated in nine out of ten matches for Valencia in LaLiga this season, mostly as a substitute, while Liverpool have several options in the winger position, including Bradley Barcola, Víctor Muñoz, Cody Gakpo, Ryo Nagumoha, and Chiesa.
