Eli Junior Kroupi decides to represent France national team
Junior Kroupi, the AFC Bournemouth striker, has made his decision regarding his international future, announcing his desire to represent the French national team, despite having the option to play for Ivory Coast and Portugal due to his family heritage.
The 20-year-old player confirmed his position during an interview with "DAZN" published on October 24, 2026, putting an end to speculation about the national team he wishes to represent during his international career.
Junior Kroupi said in his statements: "I have always played for France's youth teams, I was born in France and started playing football there, and I do not see myself playing for a national team belonging to a culture I do not know, so the French national team is my goal."
AFC Bournemouth's striker responded to a question about receiving a prior call-up to the France national team: "I don't know at all," which means that his choice reflects his stated desire to represent France, and not a confirmation of his official inclusion in the senior national team squad just yet.
Junior Kroupi has a record with the youth teams of France, and the Portuguese national team has previously shown interest in him, given his family background that allows him multiple international options. However, the player has confirmed that his goal is to wear the jersey of the senior national team of France.
