Bournemouth recalls Milan's historical glory ahead of their clash
AFC Bournemouth has recalled its historical relationship with AC Milan ahead of the clash between the two teams at Vitality Stadium, in a scene that carried special significance related to the history of the English club and its colors.
Before the match kicked off, the song "The Impossible Dream" by Andy Williams echoed around the stadium, just as it did before AFC Bournemouth's victory over Sturm Graz. The stadium announcer posed a question to the fans, saying: "So, how did we end up here?".
The story goes back to AFC Bournemouth adopting the red and black colors in tribute to the famous AC Milan team from the 1960s. Additionally, the choice of the initials of the English club, AFC, phonetically mimics the letters AC in the name Milan, giving the club a distinctive European character.
The stadium announcer concluded his message by saying: "We have returned to the starting point," referring to the encounter between the two clubs and the historical symbolism linking AFC Bournemouth to AC Milan's colors and football legacy.
