Arteta: Very happy to achieve victory, we knew this
Mikel Arteta, Arsenal's head coach, expressed his happiness at the 2-0 victory over Everton in the eighth round of the Premier League, praising his players' performance despite the pressure of matches and making five changes to the starting lineup.
Mikel Arteta said in statements to "Sky Sports": "I am very happy. We made five changes, and we played three matches in less than six days, so we knew how difficult it would be. But I think the team performed very well, was active from the start, and put a lot of pressure on the opponent."
He added: "We faced some difficulties in finishing our attacks, but we scored from a set piece, which is our first this season, and that gave us the confidence and calm to control the match. However, we knew that the encounter would remain open until we scored the second goal."
Speaking about Gabriel Magalhães, Arsenal's manager said: "I believe he is one of the best centre-backs in the world, without any doubt, considering his impact in both penalty areas. His leadership, presence, and what he brings to the rest of the players are unique, and we are very happy to have him with us."
Mikel Arteta discussed the players who participated in the starting lineup, explaining: "The match against Munich was one of the most physical games we have played in the last four years, and the effort we put in was exceptional. Then we had to play today, so we needed players who were lively and fresh."
He concluded his statements by saying: "There are players who are going through good periods and need to get playing minutes, and they have all performed wonderfully."
