Barcelona received worrying signs about their defensive solidity after losing to Paris Saint-Germain 4-2 in the UEFA Champions League, having allowed their opponents to take 15 shots on target, a tally that reflects the pressure the team faced under German coach Hans Flick.

Barcelona struggled against Paris Saint-Germain's relentless attacks, who exploited the spaces and defensive errors. Goalkeeper Juan García shone with his saves, preventing his team from losing by a larger margin.

Garcia impressed with ten saves, including eight attempts from inside the box, but his interventions were not enough to prevent Paris Saint-Germain from securing the victory.

Statistical figures reveal a clear attacking superiority for the French team, which took 22 shots during the match, with an expected goals value of 3.70, compared to 18 shots and 2.23 expected goals for Barcelona. Meanwhile, two attempts from Paris hit the posts and the crossbar.

However, the most alarming figure for the Catalan team was the arrival of 15 shots on their goal, surpassing Bayern Munich's tally, who had 13 shots on target during their historic 8-2 victory over Barcelona in August 2020.

The French pressure did not stop there, as ten shots out of 12 attempts from Paris Saint-Germain reached the goal during the first half alone. According to the statistics in the report, Barcelona has not faced this number of shots on their goal in the first half of a UEFA Champions League match since at least the 2003-2004 season.

The data indicated that conceding 15 shots on target represents the highest tally Barcelona has faced in an official match over the last ten years, highlighting the difficulties their defense encountered against Luis Enrique's team.

Concerns over Barcelona's defensive performance have intensified as their streak of matches conceding goals in the UEFA Champions League has extended to 18 consecutive games.

According to the report, this is the worst streak for a Spanish team in UEFA Champions League history, surpassing the previous record held by Villarreal, who conceded goals in 14 consecutive matches between 2008 and 2021.

Barcelona last kept a clean sheet in the UEFA Champions League on April 9, 2025, when they defeated Borussia Dortmund 4-0 in the first leg of the quarter-finals, before failing to maintain that clean sheet in their subsequent European matches.

These numbers put coach Hans Flick in a position where he must quickly address defensive gaps, especially since the team still has the ability to create chances and score goals, but struggles to limit the danger posed by opponents and their exploitation of spaces.

As the Clasico approaches, improving the balance between the attacking and defensive sides and reducing errors becomes one of the main challenges for Barcelona, in order to avoid repeating the problems that were clearly evident during their encounter with Paris Saint-Germain.
