Gabriel Jesus prepares for first clásico with FC Barcelona against Real Madrid
Gabriel Jesus, the Brazilian forward for FC Barcelona, is preparing to play his first El Clásico in the Catalan team's shirt against Real Madrid next Sunday, after leaving a clear mark in his previous encounters against the royal club while wearing the Manchester City jersey.
According to the Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo", Gabriel Jesus, who is 29 years old, has faced Real Madrid four times in the UEFA Champions League, achieving three wins against one loss, scoring three goals and providing one assist. This enhances expectations for him to deliver an impactful performance in the upcoming clash, despite being tipped to start on the bench.
He made significant contributions against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 during the 2019/2020 season, scoring a goal in the first leg victory of 2-1 at the Santiago Bernabéu, and then netting another goal and providing an assist in the second leg, which ended with the same score in favor of Manchester City, leading his team to qualification.
In the UEFA Champions League semi-finals of the 2021/2022 season, Gabriel Jesus scored in Manchester City's 4-3 win over Real Madrid in the first leg, but the English side exited the competition after losing 3-1 in the second leg, following a historic comeback by the Spanish giants.
The Brazilian forward is enjoying a positive start with FC Barcelona, having scored four goals in 234 minutes across seven matches. The Spanish newspaper noted that attention will turn to coach Hans Flick's decision regarding giving him the opportunity to participate in the Clasico, to enhance his numbers against Real Madrid.
