Mourinho clarifies: I did not comment on Cristiano Ronaldo
José Mourinho, the manager of Real Madrid, has firmly denied the circulating statements attributed to him regarding Cristiano Ronaldo's issue with the Portugal national team.
Jose Mourinho said: "There is a lot of false news about my statements regarding Cristiano Ronaldo and the Portuguese Football Federation."
The Portuguese coach clearly added: "I have not made any statements at all."
Jose Mourinho's comments come as Portugal faces controversy following the unexpected developments regarding Cristiano Ronaldo, who left the national team's camp in FC Copenhagen ahead of the match against Denmark in the UEFA Nations League.
Cristiano Ronaldo has announced his departure from the camp, stating that his decision came after the press conference of coach Jorge Jesus and a conversation with Portuguese Football Federation president Pedro Proença. The Portugal captain confirmed that he will reveal the "truth" and the reasons behind his decision at the appropriate time, before wishing good luck to his teammates and the national team.
The current crisis began during Portugal's match against Norway, which ended with the Portuguese national team winning 2-1, where Ronaldo remained on the bench throughout the match and did not participate, despite being on the list. After that, the player trained separately from the group, before Jesus later confirmed that he would not start against Denmark either.
Despite Jesus confirming there is no disagreement with Cristiano Ronaldo, the player's departure from the national team camp following the coach's press conference has raised widespread questions about the future relationship between the two, especially since Jesus previously coached Ronaldo at Al Nassr.
Reports have claimed that Cristiano Ronaldo has decided to retire from international football, and that the decision has been made 100%.
