Surprise.. Liao gets Cristiano Ronaldo's shirt number

Fabrizio Romano reports that UEFA has confirmed Rafael Leão will wear the number 7 shirt for Portugal in the upcoming matches after Cristiano Ronaldo left the national team camp.

This development comes just hours after Cristiano Ronaldo officially announced his departure from the Portugal camp, following a press conference held by coach Jorge Jesus, and after a conversation he had with the president of the Portuguese Football Federation, Pedro Proença.

Cristiano Ronaldo's decision came after a crisis that began during the match against Norway, when the national team captain remained on the bench throughout the game despite participating in warm-up exercises. Jesus later confirmed that the player was angry about not being included.

Cristiano Ronaldo has also missed group training over the following two days, amid rising controversy regarding his relationship with the new coach, before deciding to leave the national team camp.

Cristiano Ronaldo started the international break as a starter against Wales but left the pitch in the second half. Things changed unexpectedly during the match against Norway, where he did not participate despite warming up.

The Portugal national team is set to continue its journey in the UEFA Nations League, facing Denmark today in the third round, before meeting Norway on Sunday in the fourth round.
