Mamelodi Sundowns FC have claimed the Confederations Cup title after their 2-1 victory over Al Ahli Saudi FC in the final of the three continents tournament.

The match took place on Saturday evening, September 19, 2026, at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria, South Africa, as part of the Intercontinental Cup for clubs.

Mamelodi Sundowns FC opened the scoring in the 17th minute, taking advantage of a defensive error inside the penalty area, with Nuno Santos heading the ball into the net.

Al Ahly did not wait long to return to the match, as the equalising goal came just two minutes later, following a shot from Feras Al-Buraikan that hit the goalkeeper Ronwen Williams and found its way into the net by mistake.

Nuno Santos returned to make his mark once again in the 79th minute, scoring the second goal for Mamelodi Sundowns FC, giving his team a valuable victory against Al Ahli Saudi.

With this victory, Mamelodi Sundowns FC secured the Confederations Cup title, which includes Africa, Asia, and the Pacific, and booked their place in the next stage of the Intercontinental Club Cup to face the champion of the Derby of the Americas.

Al Ahli's journey in the current edition of the tournament ended at the Confederations Cup final, having reached this stage after overcoming Auckland City in the previous round.
