"Disciplinary" suspends Al Khaleej player for two matches and fines Abdulelah Al-Malki 40,000 riyals
The Saudi Football Federation's Disciplinary and Ethics Committee has announced new sanctions affecting players in the Saudi Pro League due to violations observed in recent matches.
The committee has decided to suspend Matheus Daniel Benígas, a player for Al Khaleej, for two matches after he was found guilty of misconduct during his team's match against Al Ahly FC, which saw him receive a direct red card.
Benegas was sent off for his behavior towards an opposing player, leading the committee to decide that the automatic suspension resulting from the red card would count towards his punishment.
The punishment includes the absence of an Al Khaleej player for two official matches in which he is eligible to participate with the first team, in addition to a fine of 20,000 Riyals payable to the Saudi Pro League.
In another decision, the Disciplinary Committee has punished Abdulelah Al-Malki, a player for Al Daraiyah, due to media statements he made following his team's match against Al Ittihad on October 22.
The committee stated that Abdulelah Al-Malki's remarks included insults towards match officials, as well as inciting public opinion, which it deemed a violation warranting disciplinary action.
The committee has decided to fine Al-Dhariyah player 40,000 riyals in favor of the Saudi Football Federation, along with an official warning to him to refrain from repeating such actions in the future.
