Nkunku Prefers Return to Leipzig Over Newcastle Move
French striker Christopher Nkunku, currently with AC Milan, prefers a return to RB Leipzig over a move to Newcastle United, as the German club is actively working to bring him back during the current summer transfer window.
According to "La Gazzetta dello Sport," Nkunku is close to returning to Leipzig after the German club entered negotiations with Milan, alongside Newcastle, to secure the player's services.
Reports suggest that Newcastle is clearly falling behind Leipzig in the race to sign Nkunku, who previously played for the German club from 2019 to 2023.
Christopher Nkunku joined AC Milan from Chelsea for €37 million, plus incentives, but he managed to score only 8 goals in 35 matches across all competitions last season.
According to the report, Milan and Leipzig are preparing to complete a loan deal for Nkunku with a purchase option in the coming days, with the German club set to cover the player's salary of €5 million for the 2026/2027 season.
