Liverpool and Chelsea enter race to sign RB Leipzig defender

Liverpool and Chelsea have entered the race to sign French defender Castello Lukeba from RB Leipzig, amid interest from several top European clubs.

CaughtOffside reported, citing journalist Ekrem Konur, that Manchester United, FC Barcelona, and Bayern Munich are also monitoring the player after his name was linked with a move to Manchester United last summer.

Football Transfers has reported that Castello Lukeba's contract includes a release clause of €80 million. The report suggests that Liverpool may see him as an option to replace Virgil van Dijk in the future, while Chelsea are aiming to bolster their defense.

The 23-year-old French defender may be open to a move to a bigger club and experiencing the Premier League.
