English competition for signing AC Milan defender
Liverpool, Manchester United, and Chelsea have entered the race to sign Belgian Koni De Winter, the AC Milan defender, following his performances with the Italian side this season.
CaughtOffside reports that scouts from Premier League clubs are watching the 24-year-old player in his recent matches, given his noticeable development and ability to play in multiple defensive positions.
Newcastle, Tottenham, Leeds United, and Brentford have sent their scouts to monitor the defender, who has established himself within AC Milan's back three.
Koni De Winter is gaining increasing recognition at AC Milan, despite joining the team last season. He has become one of the names being monitored by English clubs to strengthen their defense during the upcoming winter or summer transfer window.
The report indicated that Manchester United and Chelsea are actively moving in the defender market, having also monitored Jacobo Ramón, a player from Como, but signing Koni De Winter does not represent an immediate priority for either of the interested clubs.
The Belgian defender may prefer a move to a team that guarantees him regular playing time, which could lead him to consider offers from Newcastle or Leeds before thinking about a transfer to one of the top six clubs in the Premier League.
