Guiri Faces Golden Opportunity with Marseille
Algerian international Amine Gouiri is poised for a larger role at Olympique Marseille this season, as the club reshapes its attacking line following the departure of several key players, including Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Mason Greenwood. This could provide the 'Greens' striker with more space within coach Bruno Genesio's project.
L'Équipe has revealed that Guiri is among the group of players chosen by Genesio to form the backbone of the team, alongside Leonardo Balerdi, Timothy Weah, Emerson Palmieri, Quentin Timber, and Igor Paixão.
This choice reflects the level of trust that the new coach places in the Algerian striker, especially since Genesio has known Gouiri since his development period at Olympique Lyon, which could help the player secure a starting role in Marseille's lineup.
According to the same data, Guiri is a candidate for the main striker position, which presents him with an important opportunity to restore his standing and establish himself as one of the key elements of the new project at the French club.
However, the player's future remains uncertain, with no guarantees of his continued presence at Marseille until the end of the transfer window, especially with interest in his services from Italian side Como and Spanish club Sevilla.
Guiri recently spoke to 'RMC' about his future, confirming that all possibilities remain on the table, stating: "Right now, I am here, focusing on my preparations, and we will see what happens later."
Despite not having settled his future, the Algerian striker expressed his happiness at being in Marseille, and spoke positively about Genesio, whom he has known since he was fifteen.
With the coach's insistence on keeping him and interest from other clubs in signing him, Guiri enters the next phase with great anticipation regarding his future, with the possibility of becoming Marseille's main striker and wearing the number 9 shirt in the upcoming season.
