Bruno Génésio takes responsibility for Olympique Marseille's inconsistent performance
Bruno Génésio, the coach of Olympique Marseille, has acknowledged his responsibility for his team's inconsistent performance, stating that he needs to review himself and his tactical choices after the loss to Sturm Graz by a goal to nil on Thursday in the third round of the UEFA Europa League group stage.
Bruno stated during the press conference before the match against Le Havre in Ligue 1: "When the team's behaviors change from one match to another or from one half to another, as a coach, you are obliged to review yourself. It would be easy to blame the experienced players or the youth or the changes, but I must also take responsibility. If we do not prepare for these matches properly, perhaps my message has not reached as it should. I am the first one who needs to review myself regarding the preparation for European competition matches."
He added: "It is in the nature of our work to constantly review ourselves and to be among the players, not above them or far from them. I feel that this group has the potential and is capable of rising and interacting, and it is my duty, alongside the coaching staff, to look for what we can improve on individual, collective, tactical, and technical levels."
He continued: "We lost a lot of balls in important areas during the match against Sturm Graz, despite having players capable of delivering a better technical level. Therefore, we are constantly reviewing our message, our behaviors, and our choices to see what can be improved, as this is part of our work."
Olympique Marseille hope to regain their balance against Le Havre on Sunday in Ligue 1 after suffering three consecutive defeats in the UEFA Europa League, leaving them without points in the continental competition.
