Tebas Confirms Barcelona's Return to 1/1 Rule, Comments on Alvarez Signing
Javier Tebas, president of La Liga, has confirmed that Barcelona has indeed returned to the '1/1' financial fair play rule, granting them greater flexibility to register players and make new signings during the summer transfer window.
When asked if Barcelona is now under the 1/1 rule, he replied: "I believe so."
Tebas also commented on the possibility of Barcelona making significant signings, such as Argentine striker Julian Alvarez, stating that it depends on how the cost of the transfer is calculated.
He explained: "According to our accounting consumption method, if a club signs a player for 100 million euros on a five-year contract, the cost that is accounted for the club is 20 million euros per year, plus the player's salary."
The return to the 1/1 rule is a significant step for Barcelona, allowing the club to spend what it earns or saves, thus providing more room to maneuver in the transfer market while remaining compliant with La Liga's financial fair play regulations.
It is worth noting that the Catalan club signed English winger Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United this summer for 80 million euros.
