Inter Milan's Stance on Bastoni Amid Investigation
Inter Milan has clarified its position on Alessandro Bastoni's future following the Italian defender's involvement in an investigation related to allegations of engaging in prostitution with a minor, affirming its commitment to the player and its intention not to make any hasty decisions regarding his future.
According to "La Gazzetta dello Sport," Inter's management reached out to Bastoni immediately after he received official notification of the investigation, assuring him of their full support and confirming that he would not face this issue alone.
The investigation stems from allegations that Bastoni paid for sexual relations with a girl who was 17 years old in June 2020; however, the girl testified before the prosecution, stating that no sexual relationship occurred, a position that the player also maintains.
The newspaper added that Inter does not plan to sell Bastoni due to the ongoing investigation, but the club will evaluate any substantial offers that may come during the summer transfer window, similar to other players, with discussions to be held with the player before any decision is made.
Bastoni's name was previously linked with a move to Barcelona, but that interest has waned. Meanwhile, the report indicates that sources in Spain are mentioning interest from Real Madrid, although there have been no official contacts between the two clubs as of now.
