Newcastle United is close to completing one of the most notable goalkeeper deals of the summer transfer window, having reached a final agreement with French club Reims to sign the young goalkeeper Yehvann Diouf.

According to French and English reports, the deal is valued at around 28.5 million euros, following negotiations that lasted several weeks between the two clubs, with Newcastle securing the promising 20-year-old French goalkeeper.

A full agreement has also been reached with the player regarding personal terms, as he will sign a four-year contract with the English club, becoming one of Newcastle's key future investments in the goalkeeper position.

Gawin caught attention in France last season after delivering strong performances with Reims and contributing to 15 clean sheets, which led many European clubs to follow his progress before Newcastle succeeded in securing the deal.

The coaching staff, led by Eddie Howe, believes that the French goalkeeper has the necessary qualities to become the team's first-choice goalkeeper in the future, although he is expected to start his journey at St. James' Park as a direct competitor to the current main goalkeeper.

The deal is part of Newcastle's plan to renew the goalkeeper position over the summer, especially with the end of some loan agreements for goalkeepers and anticipated changes within the team before the start of the new season.

Awaiting the official announcement, it seems that Ewan Jaouen will be Newcastle's first major signing this summer, in a move that reflects the club's great confidence in the abilities of one of the most promising talents in French football.
