Official Complaint Demands Investigation into Najaf Club Management Following Official Relegation

The crisis escalated within Najaf Sports Club after an official complaint was filed with the Najaf Investigation Court Judge, accusing the club's management of causing the team's relegation to the first division through a series of controversial administrative and technical decisions.

The complaint, contained in a document addressed to the court, confirmed that Najaf, one of Iraq's prestigious clubs, entered an unprecedented decline that placed it in late positions in the league table, before the season ended with a historic relegation after decades of continuous presence in the top league.

The party filing the complaint pointed to deals and contracts with players who did not provide any technical addition, considering that some were made without genuine technical study, leading to a waste of the club's funds without return. The document also spoke of "suspicions of financial corruption" and a lack of transparency in the management of the club's financial and administrative files.

The complaint mentioned that repeated interventions in the work of the technical staff and players, and poor planning at the level of the governorate and the administrative body, directly contributed to the team's collapse and decline in results, despite the club's large fan base and popularity in the governorate.

The complaint demanded an official investigation that includes the head of the sports committee in the Najaf Provincial Council, Ali Naif Al-Thuwaini, and the club's administrative board members, holding accountable everyone responsible for bringing the club to this stage.

The complainant affirmed that what happened cannot be considered merely a sports stumble, but the result of accumulated administrative, technical, and financial errors that affected the team's stability and progress, depriving Najaf fans of following their team in the premier league.

Najaf's sudden relegation sparked a wave of public anger in recent weeks, and the complaint was considered an expression of this anger and a demand to hold accountable those responsible for the crisis.
