The police settled their encounter against their host Najaf with a 3-1 victory on Saturday evening at the Najaf International Stadium, as part of the 26th round of the Iraq Stars League, continuing to chase the leading Air Force and keeping Najaf in the danger zones.

The match started with a balanced pace before the police imposed their offensive superiority, managing to open the scoring in the 18th minute through Bassam Shaker to put his team ahead early.

The second goal did not take long, as Ahmed Farhan added the second goal in the 25th minute to reinforce the visitors' lead and give them more comfort in managing the remaining minutes of the first half, which ended with the police leading 2-0 amid sporadic attempts from the hosts to return.

At the start of the second half, the police continued their pressure and succeeded in widening the gap in the 53rd minute when Polo Sambo scored the third goal, practically bringing the match closer to being settled.

In the final minutes, Najaf reduced the deficit with a goal by Reda Fadel in the 90th minute, ending the encounter with a 3-1 victory for the police.

With this victory, the police raised their tally to 56 points in second place, maintaining their position in the race for the lead behind the Air Force, while Najaf's tally froze at 14 points in nineteenth place, continuing the team's struggles at the bottom of the standings within the danger circle.
