The Technical Committee of Referees in Spain (CTA) issued an official clarification regarding the goal that was disallowed for Barcelona in their match against Celta Vigo, confirming that the decision to cancel it via VAR was correct according to the approved regulations.

The committee clarified that arbitration decisions in such cases do not rely entirely on virtual simulations, but rather refer to precise technical systems to ensure the accuracy of the decision.

The referees' committee explained that the semi-automated offside technology (SAOT) detected a very narrow offside situation involving player Ferran Torres, due to a slight forward position of the shoulder, which was clearly visible in the first replay of the television footage.

The committee confirmed that it is working in collaboration with the technology provider "Hawk-Eye" to develop and improve the quality of virtual images, with the aim of enhancing transparency and raising the level of credibility among fans in refereeing decisions, especially in precise contentious cases.

This clarification comes amid the controversy that arose after the match, which saw the cancellation of a goal that sparked widespread debate about the accuracy of semi-automatic offside technology and the role of VAR in deciding crucial moments.
