Al-Fateh Resolves the Controversy Over Gomes
The Saudi club Al-Fateh has settled the position of its coach José Gomes, amid circulating news regarding Al-Ahli's interest in signing him to lead the team in the upcoming season, replacing coach Jes Thorup.
Mohammed Al-Daif, the media director of Al-Fateh Club, confirmed that Gomes is under an official contract with the club until the end of the current season, emphasizing the administration's commitment to his continuation.
Al-Daif explained in press statements that Al-Fateh's administration is currently working on renewing the Portuguese coach's contract, indicating that negotiations between the two parties are indeed underway and have reached an advanced stage, reflecting the club's desire to maintain technical stability.
Gomes' name was previously linked with coaching Al-Ahli, especially with the team's need to sign a new coach before participating in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. However, his contract with Al-Fateh prevented the deal from being completed at that time.
It is noteworthy that the Portuguese coach had previously worked in the Egyptian league through the gateway of Zamalek Club, where he took over the team's training in February 2024 before leaving in December of the same year to lead Al-Fateh Saudi.
