Al Ahly club received another setback on the continental level after the CAF Disciplinary Committee issued a decision to suspend their defender Yasser Ibrahim for two matches, following the events that occurred during the first leg of the CAF Champions League quarter-final against Tunisian club Esperance.

The Tunisian website "Nessma Sport" reported that the Disciplinary Committee found that an Al-Ahly player exhibited unsportsmanlike behavior towards the Esperance fans during the match held at the Rades Stadium, which led to the imposition of a suspension penalty against him.

The decision came months after the match, which took place amid a charged atmosphere with intense competition between the two teams, before Al Ahly's journey in the continental tournament ended at the quarter-final stage following their loss to Esperance in the aggregate of the home and away matches.

The Tunisian team benefited from this qualification to continue its journey in the competition, reaching the semi-finals before facing South Africa's Mamelodi Sundowns, who managed to secure a spot in the final match.

Sundowns continued their strong performances until the final scene, clinching the CAF Champions League title after defeating Morocco's Royal Army in the final, and crowned champions of a tournament that witnessed many twists and surprises.
