Marwan Attia: A Great Hope and Dream to Play in the World Cup
Marwan Attia, the star of the Egyptian national team, affirmed that the FIFA World Cup holds a special status that differs from any other tournament.
Marwan Attia added in a television statement: "It is a great hope and dream to play in the World Cup, and may God make it happen for the best. It is an honor for any player in the world to play in a World Cup."
The national team player spoke about his previous experiences in international tournaments with Al Ahly club, saying: "When I first joined Al Ahly, I played in the Club World Cup in Morocco, and it was my first time, so there was a lot of awe, of course. After that, I played in the Club World Cup edition in Saudi Arabia and was named the best player in the match against Al-Ittihad Jeddah. With each World Cup, things get better over time, but the World Cup for national teams is, of course, a different matter."
He added: "When I was young, my dream was to play in the World Cup, join a big club, and play professionally abroad. You must dream of all this when you're young to achieve what you want. If you limit your ambitions, you won't achieve anything."
The Egyptian national team is preparing to play their first World Cup match against Belgium on Monday, June 15th.
