Eric Garcia: Difficult Arbitration Decisions, Aiming to Secure the League Early
Barcelona player Eric Garcia spoke about the refereeing controversy in the match against Atletico Madrid, as well as the team's aspirations in La Liga, during his participation in the launch event for the new edition of the book "Solidarity Sports Stories."
Eric Garcia said, "I think in these tournaments you always need a bit of luck, and clearly things didn't go our way. I won't place all the blame on the referees, but there are strange decisions that are hard to understand," commenting on the refereeing controversy in the matches against Atletico Madrid, which led Barcelona to file two official complaints with UEFA.
He added: "These are decisions based on judgment, and things often go against us rather than in our favor, but these are things that happen in football," affirming his acceptance of what happens during matches despite the controversy.
He continued talking about the team's position in the Spanish league, saying: "Now we have to focus on the league. Things are going well, and the sooner we secure it, the better, as it is a reward for consistency."
He added: "We were affected by the exit against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League, but this does not diminish the work we are doing this season."
He also addressed the issue of the potential guard of honor for Real Madrid if they secure the title, saying: "If they give us a guard of honor, it means we have won the title, and if it were up to us, we would do that for any competitor out of respect."
