Shobier Criticizes Oscar Ruiz After Al Ahly and Ceramica Match Crisis
The media personality Ahmed Shobeir criticized the selection of Mahmoud Wafa as the referee for the match between Al Ahly and Ceramica Cleopatra in the league.
The match between Al Ahly and Ceramica, which took place yesterday, Tuesday, as part of the first round of the league title decider, ended in a 1-1 draw.
In a radio statement, Shobeir added: "Mahmoud Wafa officiated the Morocco vs. Libya match in the North Africa qualifiers on Sunday and returned to Egypt on Monday, then officiated the Al Ahly match. As a result, he did not have enough time to rest, which affected his decisions."
"Oscar Ruiz is a world-class referee trainer, and I have seen him provide strong training for referees, but in management, he is weak and not suitable for leading the referees' committee."
He added, "The head of the referees' committee, Clattenburg, took on the role but did not complete the season and left. He used to make statements revealing the details of refereeing decisions, which angered the referees and led to his departure."
After the three experiences of foreigners heading the referees committee in Egypt, Shobeir pointed out that its head should be an Egyptian referee. Despite my differences with Gamal Al-Ghandour at times, he produced a distinguished generation of referees.
