A Firm Stance from Al-Hilal Regarding Barcelona's Request
Thursday 26-03-2026
The management of the Saudi club Al-Hilal decisively rejected Barcelona's demands to convert Joao Cancelo's deal into a permanent transfer without any fee.

Press reports confirmed that Al-Hilal officials do not intend to make any concessions on this matter, insisting on their financial rights as the player's contract continues until the summer of 2027.

This situation arises as Barcelona seeks to retain the services of the Portuguese full-back after the end of his current loan period with the Catalan team.

According to sources, Al-Hilal has set a minimum amount of 15 million euros to agree to the permanent sale of the player's contract in the upcoming period.

On the other hand, Barcelona set clear conditions for completing the deal, most notably the termination of the player's contract with his current club, in addition to reducing his annual salary.

Cancelo showed flexibility in reducing his salary, which ranges between 15 and 20 million euros with Al Hilal, in exchange for securing a long-term contract within the Spanish club.

The player joined Barcelona during the last summer transfer window on loan and succeeded in delivering impressive performances that caught attention.

Cancelo played 11 matches for Barcelona, during which he scored two goals and provided four assists, strengthening the club's desire for him to continue.
