Esperance Coach: Winning Against Al Ahly in Rades is Necessary Before the Return Match in Cairo
Saturday 14-03-2026
The Frenchman Patrice Beaumelle, coach of Espérance Sportive de Tunis, emphasized the importance of securing a victory in the upcoming match against Egypt's Al Ahly in the first leg of the CAF Champions League quarter-finals.

During the press conference held today, Saturday, at the conference hall in Hammadi Agrebi Stadium in Rades, Boumel confirmed that his team aims to secure the first leg match to avoid difficulties in the return match that will take place in a week in Cairo.

The French coach pointed out that since taking over the coaching of Esperance, he has been under the pressure and motivation of the fans at the same time, affirming that leading a team of Esperance's caliber and defending its colors is a great source of pride for him.

Boumell also reassured the team's fans regarding the players' readiness, explaining that all members are available physically and health-wise, giving him multiple options before the match.

The coach spoke about the situation of the player Youssef Msakni, noting that he has increased the intensity of his physical preparations this week, with the possibility of him participating in the match either as a starter or a substitute.

Boumel expressed his confidence in Msakni's ability to make a significant contribution, recalling his offensive performance in the match played during the group stage against Simba in Dar es Salaam.

On the other hand, he pointed out that Al Ahly's fluctuating results in the Egyptian league do not necessarily reflect its level in continental competitions, explaining that some major clubs may go through difficult periods domestically but perform differently in continental tournaments.

For his part, Esperance player Kasila Boualia emphasized that all the players are aware of the responsibility in the quarter-final match, noting that a clash of the magnitude of Esperance and Al Ahly does not require additional motivation, as everyone is mentally and physically prepared to deliver their best performance.

The Algerian winger expressed his happiness with the level of performance he has been delivering recently with the Esperance attack, affirming his desire to continue excelling in the upcoming match and contribute to achieving a positive result for his team.
