Thursday 12-03-2026
Moroccan international Nayef Aguerd, defender for Olympique Marseille, announced the success of the surgery he underwent today, Thursday, after suffering for several months from chronic pain in the groin area that began last October.

The player explained, in a message posted on his official social media accounts, that these pains have become a constant companion in his daily life, from the moment he wakes up until he goes to sleep, and sometimes even intensify during the night, despite adhering to all treatment protocols in recent months.

Akard indicated that he resorted to the surgical option after previous medical solutions failed to alleviate the pain, emphasizing that he had tried for a long time to find alternative treatments before making this decision.

He said in his message: "This decision should have been made some time ago, but I preferred to continue and look for the best possible solutions before resorting to surgery."

The Moroccan defender expressed his gratitude to Dr. Gilles Reboul, who performed the surgery, and to Dr. Christophe Baudot, the doctor for the Moroccan national football team, for monitoring his condition throughout the past period. He also expressed his appreciation to the medical staff of Olympique de Marseille for their support and accompaniment from the onset of the injury until the surgery was performed.

Aguerd confirmed that the upcoming phase will be dedicated to rest and completing recovery, in preparation for returning to the field and participating in the crucial stage at the end of the season with his team.

He also thanked his teammates in the Moroccan national team and Marseille club for their support during the past period, expressing his hope to return soon in full readiness and help his team in the upcoming matches.
