Barcelona midfielder Gavi is nearing a return to the field during his team's anticipated match against Sevilla, after an absence of more than five months due to a knee injury, according to the Spanish newspaper 'Mundo Deportivo'.

The newspaper explained that Gavi has not yet received the final medical clearance, but he was on the bench during the team's last match at St. James' Park, a clear indication of his nearing return to participate in official matches.

Barcelona coach Hans Flick had previously confirmed that he does not want to risk the player, even though the medical and physical staff within the club believe he is capable of playing for a few minutes, making his participation against Sevilla a decision for the German coach.

According to the newspaper, Gavi's return in this match could be special, especially since it will take place at Spotify Camp Nou, in front of more than 62,000 spectators, coinciding with the club's presidential elections.

Gavi underwent surgery on September 23 to treat an injury to the internal meniscus cartilage of the right knee, with an estimated absence period of four to five months, which officially ended on February 23. Expectations within Barcelona suggest he may receive the final medical clearance from the doctor just before the Sevilla match.
