The journalist Ibrahim Abdel Jawad revealed that Mahmoud El-Khatib, the president of Al Ahly Club, ordered the suspension of negotiations to renew the contract of the team's goalkeeper, Mostafa Shobeir, with the club.

Ibrahim Abdel Jawad stated in a television interview: "Captain El-Khatib personally intervened and ordered the suspension of negotiations with Shobeir, and this was not due to the club's lack of interest in the player or considering his departure."

He added: "El-Khatib believes that there are certain issues that must be resolved first, such as finalizing the contract renewals with players whose contracts will expire at the end of the current season, like Hussein El-Shahat and Ahmed Nabil Kouka."

Al Ahly is currently preparing to face its counterpart, Al Mokawloon Al Arab, tomorrow, Thursday, in the 21st round of the Egyptian Premier League.

Al Ahly holds the third position in the league standings with 37 points.
