Flick Yields to Barcelona Players' Pressures
Wednesday 25-02-2026
Radio Catalunya revealed that the leaders of the Barcelona team are pushing the sports management, represented by sporting director Deco and coach Hans Flick, to amend the penalty system for cases of tardiness.

According to the source, several players were not comfortable with the previously enforced penalty, which involved excluding a tardy player from the lineup. This would directly reveal the issue to the fans and media, placing the player under additional pressure.

Flick, known for his openness to dialogue in the locker room, listened to the leaders' perspective and was convinced that the most suitable solution was to forgo the sports penalty and replace it with an internal financial penalty, maintaining discipline without directly affecting the team's technical side.

Despite this adjustment, the German coach's stance remains clear and firm, as he considers match day "sacred" and believes that being late, even by a few seconds, is a sign of disrespect towards teammates and the coaching staff.

Previous press reports indicated that the management of the Catalan club has imposed financial fines that could reach up to 40,000 euros on players who are late for training sessions or gatherings before matches.
