Barcelona Exceeds Budget for Camp Nou Redevelopment
Thursday 19-02-2026
Barcelona Club has exceeded the initial budget set for the redevelopment of Camp Nou Stadium, which amounted to 960 million euros, in collaboration with the construction company Limak, according to the Spanish newspaper 'Sport'.

The first football team continues to play its home matches since the end of last November, after a one-year delay from the scheduled date and with only half the seating capacity available, while work continues on the third tier, VIP lounges, and the roof.

The report indicated that the final cost of the project could exceed the budget by an additional 200 to 300 million euros, and the club will have to cover this gap from part of the funds allocated for emergencies and from the 1.5 billion euro loan granted by Goldman Sachs.

The source adds that a new inspection will be conducted on Thursday at the stadium as part of the first phase of reopening, and if approved, matches could be hosted with a capacity of 62,000 spectators, including 17,000 seats in the first and second tiers at the Gol Nord side, which remains closed.

Meanwhile, the return of the dedicated cheering section in Barcelona continues to progress, following the club's talks with the four cheering groups. The stand is located at the Gol Sud side with a capacity of 1,247 seats, and its opening depends on permits from the Barcelona municipality and the Catalan police, a complex process that has not yet been completed.

The club expresses optimism about the possibility of increasing capacity for this week's match against Levante, scheduled for Sunday, as part of the 25th round of the Spanish League, while maintaining safety conditions and crowd management.
