Al Ahly Decides Imam Ashour's Position
Monday 02-02-2026
Al-Ahly club has made its final decision regarding the recent issue involving the team's midfielder, Emam Ashour, after he failed to travel with the team to Tanzania to face Young Africans in the African Champions League without prior permission.

The club issued a decision to suspend Imam Ashour for two weeks, allowing him to train individually, and imposed a financial penalty of 1.5 million pounds on the player. The penalty will be enforced from January 29 to February 11.

Sources within Al Ahly denied to On Sport FM radio the validity of the rumors regarding Imam Ashour being put up for sale, not renewing his contract, or freezing his participation in matches, emphasizing the need to preserve the player's talent, which is considered among the best in Egypt and Africa.

Walid Salah El-Din, the club's football director, confirmed that the player will return directly to team training after the suspension period ends, noting that the decision on his participation in matches will be in the hands of Danish coach Jess Thorup, without any reduction in the penalty.
