Thorup Puts Al Ahly Management in a Dilemma by Refusing the Departure of Five Team Players in January
Danish coach Jess Thorup, the head coach of Al Ahly Club, has put the club's management in a difficult position by insisting on keeping five players until the end of the current season and refusing to let them leave during the ongoing winter transfer window.
According to the newspaper "Al-Watan," Thorup insists on keeping the trio of Ahmed Abdelkader, the Malian Aliou Dieng, and Ahmed Nabil Kouka, and not letting them go during January, despite their contracts nearing expiration at the end of the season. This prevents Al Ahly from potentially gaining financial benefits, which does not align with the management's approach.
The newspaper added that the Al-Ahly coach also prefers to keep Omar Kamal Abdel Wahid, along with goalkeeper Mohamed Seha, despite receiving several local offers recently, in order to maintain technical stability and the team's strength in the upcoming phase.
It is worth noting that Al-Ahly's management recently failed to reach an agreement to renew the contracts of the trio Ahmed Abdelkader, Aliou Dieng, and Ahmed Nabil Kouka. This was due to Dieng's desire to pursue a professional career abroad, as well as financial disagreements with the other players, which further complicates the situation at the present time.
