Marc Guehi's Urgency Complicates His Transfer Deal to Barcelona
Sunday 28-12-2025
The Spanish newspaper 'Sport' revealed that the transfer of Marc Guehi, Crystal Palace defender, to Barcelona may encounter difficulties because of the player's wish to settle his future quickly, as he is expected to sign a pre-contract with Liverpool starting January 1.

Guehi was one of the top options considered by Barcelona's sporting management to strengthen the defense line for the upcoming season, after the Barca coaching staff admired his performance. Meetings were held to try to complete the deal, but the player's financial demands and his eagerness to receive the final offer within the coming days caused the Catalan club to lose its chance.

Guehi is among the most sought-after defenders in the market due to his performance in the English Premier League, his skill in building play from the back, and the fact that his contract with Crystal Palace expires in June 2026, making the deal financially suitable.

The report indicated that Barcelona was unable to compete with offers from major clubs such as Liverpool, Manchester United, and Bayern Munich, as the player seeks to make his final decision quickly, which currently places the Catalan club out of the race.

The newspaper confirmed that Guehi was on the shortlist prepared by Deco to strengthen Barcelona's defense alongside other players like the German Nico Schlotterbeck, and that the club's need to look for a defender in the winter market may also affect its future summer moves.
