Royal Army Files Official Appeal Against CAF Sanctions After Al Ahly Match
The Royal Army Football Club management announced that it has filed an official appeal with the relevant bodies of the African Football Confederation regarding the disciplinary decisions issued following the events of the match against Al Ahly of Egypt, held on November 28, 2025, as part of the continental competitions.
The club clarified in a statement that this step comes as part of its commitment to defending its legitimate rights and interests, and in respect of the legal procedures followed within the African Union, while awaiting the outcome of the appeal phase.
The statement indicated that the CAF Disciplinary Committee approved a set of sanctions against the team, most notably requiring them to play two home matches without spectators in African competitions, in addition to imposing a financial fine of 100,000 US dollars.
The same source added that the committee also decided to revoke the previously granted suspension of the one-match behind-closed-doors penalty, issued by a decision dated April 17, 2025, and to enforce this penalty immediately starting from the team's next continental home match.
Based on the current legal situation, the Royal Army Club will play three consecutive matches without spectators in African competitions, pending the final decision regarding the appeal submitted by the club's management.
The Royal Army Club management affirmed its commitment to all available legal means to defend the team's interests, while simultaneously adhering to the temporary decisions issued, pending the final resolution from the competent authorities within the African Football Confederation.
