Al Ahly Plans to Restructure Foreign Player Roster in the Winter Transfer Window
Al Ahly Club is set to make anticipated changes to its foreign player roster during the upcoming winter transfer window starting in January. This move comes as part of the management's efforts to strengthen the team in accordance with the Egyptian League regulations, which allow only five foreign players to be registered.
Al Ahly currently has five foreign players on its roster: the Malian Aliou Dieng, the Moroccan duo Ashraf Bencharki and Ashraf Dari, the Slovenian Nejc Gradisar, and the Tunisian Mohamed Ali Ben Ramadan. The management has begun evaluating the technical situation of each player in coordination with the coaching staff.
According to what was revealed by Al-Watan newspaper, the coaching staff led by the Dane Jes Thorup insists on retaining both Achraf Bencharki and Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane, fully confident in their technical abilities and their influential role with the team in the upcoming period.
On the other hand, Al-Ahli intends to make changes involving the trio of Aliou Dieng, whose contract expires at the end of the season amid stalled renewal negotiations, and Achraf Dari due to frequent absences caused by injuries, along with Gradishar, who is also among the candidates for departure, as the club seeks to sign a new foreign striker during the winter transfer window.
