Media personality Ahmed Shobeir spoke about European clubs' interest in signing his son Mustafa, the goalkeeper for Al Ahly.

Spanish media reports confirmed that Mustafa Shobeir entered the list of candidates to transfer to the Spanish club Girona in the upcoming period.

Ahmed Shobeir said in statements on his program "Al-Nazer" on Al-Nahar TV: "The first information I have is that Mustafa Shobeir has a Spanish agent, whom he chose and who contacted him in Egypt."



He added: "This agent brought an offer for Mustafa Shobeir from Valencia in Spain, and he came to Egypt, but Al Ahly at that time rejected the idea of negotiating from the start."

He continued: "Mustafa Shobeir’s agent came specifically from Spain and held a meeting with Mohamed Youssef, the sports director of Al Ahly, who said that the idea of negotiating a deal for Mustafa Shobeir was not open for discussion."

He went on: "How did Girona’s offer come? During the match between Al Ahly and the Moroccan Royal Army team, there was a delegation at the stadium following Mustafa Shobeir in the match, and it seems the reports were good."

He continued: "Participation with the Egyptian national team in the Africa Cup of Nations may raise Mustafa Shobeir’s value if he participates and performs well, and then his chances of playing professionally in the Spanish league will be very strong."

He added: "Al Ahly has not received an official offer from Girona; it is just interests, and usually these matters start from the newspapers. There is interest in Mustafa Shobeir from other clubs, but the player has set his position not to play in any second division league."

Ahmed Shobeir concluded his statements by saying: "Mustafa Shobeir is a player for Al Ahly, and what Al Ahly decides is what will happen. If a good and suitable offer for Al Ahly comes and the club agrees, he will transfer to his new club. If Al Ahly refuses, he is an Ahly player and will continue with the club."
