Barcelona Demands Compensation from Frankfurt Following Champions League Match
Spanish club Barcelona has demanded financial compensation from German club Eintracht Frankfurt for the damages caused to the Spotify Camp Nou stadium following violent acts committed by the German team's fans during a UEFA Champions League match, according to the Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo.
The match witnessed violent and unruly behavior from about 2,300 Eintracht fans in the away section, who threw flares, bottles, cups, and coins at Barcelona supporters, forcing some of them to leave their seats before the end of the game, while the police intervened to remove the offenders.
After the match, Barcelona staff inspected the visiting fans' area and documented all the damages, which included broken barriers, damaged seats, destruction of multiple rows, and restrooms. The club sent a full report to UEFA to claim compensation for these damages.
Barcelona hopes that the European Football Union will take strict measures to prevent the recurrence of such behavior in the future, emphasizing that UEFA will take official actions to hold Eintracht Frankfurt's fans accountable and ensure a safe atmosphere in upcoming matches.
