Thorup: I am not satisfied with the draw against Royal Army
Danish coach Jess Thorup, the head coach of Al Ahly, spoke about his team's draw against AS FAR in the CAF Champions League.
The match between Al Ahly and Royal Army, held on Friday evening in the second round of the group stage of the CAF Champions League, ended in a 1-1 draw.
Torop said at the press conference after the match: "I can say that the Moroccan people are 'hospitable and wonderful.' The accommodation conditions were good, I liked the stadium, the atmosphere, the quality of the pitch itself, and the presence of the fans. Everything was, of course, wonderful."
He added: "I knew the difficulty of the match, of course, and the Army team had chances to win, and we also had the same opportunities, but in the end, the match ended in a draw."
He continued: "We talked before the match about the performance, and this match is a mental game. Therefore, our focus was on the performance, not on being frustrated by the circumstances we faced because of the fans and the referee. The focus was solely on the performance. I came here to win, and I definitely wouldn't be satisfied with a draw. But you have to accept the result, especially since we were behind, and it's a good thing to achieve a draw after being behind."
He emphasized that his focus is always on his team to continuously improve performance, explaining that he saw the Al-Jaish team perform well and that they were a tough opponent for us. With the help of their great fans, whom I witnessed, they made the match difficult for us and created several chances on our goal.
He concluded: "This is my first visit to Morocco, and I am impressed with what I have seen regarding the cleanliness of the country. There is great attention to facilities and roads. I have no complaints about anything, and I believe that everything here is handled professionally."
