Media personality Ihab El-Koumy stated that Al-Ahly coach Jes Thorup gave goalkeeper Mostafa Shobier a chance after Mohamed El-Shenawy's performance became inconsistent.
Al-Koumy explained on the program "Al-Match" on "Sada El-Balad" channel that relying on Shobier does not mean underestimating El-Shenawy's abilities, but rather it is a strategic move to increase competition for the goalkeeper position and ensure stability in the defensive line.
He added that if Shobier proves his worth, he could become the team's first-choice goalkeeper this season, which might open the door for Mohamed El-Shenawy's departure in the near future.
Al Ahly is preparing to face their opponent, Wydad AC, this evening, Friday, in the second round of the group stage of the CAF Champions League.
