David Luiz Achieves Remarkable Record in the Champions League
Thursday 27-11-2025
The veteran Brazilian star David Luiz, defender of the Cypriot club Pafos, made history once again in the UEFA Champions League by scoring a goal that made him the second oldest player to ever find the net in the competition's history.

Luiz's goal, scored against French club Monaco on Wednesday evening in a match that ended in a 2-2 draw, proved that age is just a number for the 38 years and 218 days old defender.

This goal placed David Luiz in second place behind the Portuguese legend Pepe (40 years and 290 days old), who remains the oldest scorer in Champions League history since his goal for Porto against Shakhtar in December 2023.

This goal carries another significance, as it came after a very long scoring drought in the continental competition. The time gap between his last goal and this one was nearly 2,900 days, which is more than eight full years. Luiz's last goal in the Champions League was back in October 2017, when he was playing for Chelsea against Roma.
