Paris Brunner: A talent rejected by FC Barcelona attracting Bayern Munich and Klopp's interest

Young German forward Paris Brunner, a player for AS Monaco, has returned to the spotlight in European football after making a remarkable start to the current season, making him a target for several top clubs, notably Bayern Munich, alongside Jürgen Klopp's interest in his career development.

Paris Brunner is 20 years old and has scored 8 goals in 10 official matches this season, confirming his development after a difficult start to his professional career. The striker began his career at the Borussia Dortmund academy before moving to AS Monaco, which loaned him to Cercle Brugge in Belgium during the 2024-2025 season, where he played 28 matches and scored 4 goals.

FC Barcelona closely monitored Paris Brunner during the 2023 FIFA World Cup U-17, which was won by the German national team. The forward caught attention after being named the tournament's best player, alongside his teammate Noah Darwich. The Catalan club considered signing both players but ultimately chose to contract Darwich, who later returned to VfB Stuttgart without managing to reach Barcelona's first team.

Paris Brunner's path has not been easy, facing disciplinary issues during his time with Borussia Dortmund when he was 17 years old, which included internal disputes and behaviors that raised concerns within the club's management, before he decided to move to AS Monaco. He did not get many opportunities last season, having played only 244 minutes due to the frequent changes in the coaching staff, but his current start reflects a clear turnaround in his career.

Bayern Munich are monitoring the development of the German striker as they seek attacking options for the future in anticipation of Harry Kane's decline over time. Jurgen Klopp praised his potential, stating: "This player's talent is immense, he is performing at a fantastic level, and his development in football is going very well."

Thus, Paris Brunner is regaining his status as one of the top emerging German talents, after needing a period of struggle and adjustment before he began to prove his abilities at the professional football level.
