Torop: We Could Have Won Against JS Kabylie by 7 Goals
Danish coach Jes Thorup of Al Ahly SC spoke about his team's overwhelming victory over Algeria's JS Kabylie in the CAF Champions League.
Al Ahly won by a decisive score of 4-1 against JS Kabylie in a match held this evening, Saturday, as part of the first round of the CAF Champions League.
Torop said at the press conference after the match: "We came today with one goal, which is to achieve victory and deliver a strong start in the group stage. Today, we saw the fans and their great support for the team, and this is something we greatly appreciate."
He continued: "If we look at the match, we will find that we deserved to win by a larger margin. There were 15 minutes in the second half during which we gave the opponent a chance to press us, which led to conceding a goal. It was natural for us to win by six or seven goals, but that didn’t happen."
He explained: "Physically, we have started to exert more effort, and the overall appearance of the team has improved. I am happy about that."
Regarding El-Shenawy's mistake, he said: "We are one team; we win together and lose together, and mistakes are a natural part of football. I watched the goal, and there was a challenge from the defender that made it difficult for the goalkeeper. It's easy to blame a specific player, but for me, the important thing is that we move past the incident as a team and know that we are capable of winning again."
He concluded: "I will continue the training sessions to decide who will participate in the next match. I was uncertain before the game about who should start in the attack: Taher or Mohamed Sherif, and in the end, I felt that Sherif was the most suitable for this match."
